Tombstones In Their Eyes dive deep with new single ‘I Am Cold’

Los Angeles psych-rockers Tombstones In Their Eyes have dropped a new anthem, and it’s a doozy. I Am Cold is a brooding, slow-burning slice of fuzzed-out vulnerability—born from a dark night of the soul and pushed into the world as a cathartic howl. It’s the band’s latest single and the final track to be lifted from their recently released album ‘Asylum Harbour,’ out now via Kitten Robot Records.

Fueled by the kind of emotional weight that presses on your chest, I Am Cold captures the chill of numbness and the ache of disconnection. But instead of spiraling inward, TITE transmute that heaviness into something powerful and strangely beautiful. Think Spacemen 3 melancholia meets Electric Wizard wall-of-sound meets BJM-esque haze.

The B-side, Take It Down, was cut during the ‘Asylum Harbour’ sessions and carries the same unflinching introspection—less a companion track, more a mirror held up to the same storm.

If you’ve been following the band’s slow-burning path through psych-laced darkness, you’ll recognize the DNA. Earlier singles like By My Side, Gimme Some Pain, I Like to Feel Good, and Mirror each built out the mood and mythology of ‘Asylum Harbour’. With I Am Cold, the band leaves it all on the table. It’s raw. It’s real. It’s resonant.

The track was recorded at LA’s Kitten Robot Studios, produced and engineered by underground legend Paul Roessler (Nina Hagen, Gitane Demone, Hayley and the Crushers), with longtime frontman John Treanor co-producing. Treanor’s haunted vocals and heavy guitar work are matched by a thick swirl of instrumentation from the band’s expanded lineup: Stephen Striegel (drums), Phil Cobb (guitar), Paul Boutin (guitar), Nic Nifoussi (bass), Courtney Davies (vocals), and new addition Clea Cullen.

The stunning visual for I Am Cold comes from Italian multidisciplinary artist Francesca Bonci, who’s worked with members of The Dandy WarholsSlowdive, and Federale. It’s a fittingly eerie and dreamlike companion to the track—hypnotic and unsettling in equal measure.

Born from a transcontinental project between Treanor in LA and James Cooper in NYC, Tombstones In Their Eyes has grown into a full-force psych-rock unit, known for their immersive sonic landscapes and unflinching emotional honesty. For Treanor, this music has always been a kind of cosmic therapy—facing anxiety and depression head-on by turning it into shimmering, doom-laced psychedelia.

I Am Cold is streaming now on SpotifyApple Music, and Bandcamp—alongside the ‘Asylum Harbour’ LP, which is available on CD and very sweet red vinyl.
