Seattle’s instant crush are back with sharpened teeth and unfinished thoughts, announcing a deluxe edition of their debut album ‘I’M SORRY I DIDN’T BITE MY TONGUE,’ landing March 13 via Share It Music.
Alongside the announcement, the band has unleashed a brand-new single, GRUDGE—a gritty, cathartic blast of indie rock attitude that feels like bottled frustration finally cracking open. The track is now streaming everywhere.
Turning resentment into rocket fuel
GRUDGE is raw, reflective, and gloriously defiant. Frontwoman Megan Cannon describes the song as a response to feeling boxed in by expectations—both from the industry and from people who thought they already had her figured out.
Instead of letting that bitterness rot, Cannon channeled it into something louder, sharper, and undeniably more powerful. The result is a song that thrives on tension: distorted guitars pushing forward, vocals cutting clean through the noise, and a refusal to smooth over rough edges. It’s instant crush leaning into discomfort—and sounding better than ever because of it.
A deluxe release that digs deeper
The deluxe edition of ‘I’M SORRY I DIDN’T BITE MY TONGUE’ expands the original release with six additional tracks, including three brand-new studio recordings and three previously unreleased demos. It’s a fuller snapshot of a band in motion—messy, evolving, and fearless about showing the seams.
Born from bedroom demos in Seattle, instant crush came together when Cannon joined forces with bandmates Matthew Tran, Keegan Mangahas, and Zoee Mangahas. Their sound pulls from the anthemic alt-rock energy of the 2000s but filters it through modern anxiety, self-awareness, and synth-soaked hooks that feel tailor-made for late-night drives and coming-of-age movie montages.
Put simply: this is music for overthinkers, tongue-biters, and anyone who’s ever wished they’d said the thing out loud.
On the road
Instant crush will be taking the new material on the road this spring, with select Northwest dates lined up:
- March 26 – Boise, ID @ The Shredder
- April 2 – Portland, OR @ Hawthorne Lounge (w/ Bike Routes)
- April 3 – Seattle, WA @ Barboza (w/ Bike Routes)
Having already shared stages with major names and festival crowds alike, the band continues to carve out their own lane—one that feels both nostalgic and completely current.
