Ten years in, and Shed Seven’s beloved winter tour institution is showing absolutely zero signs of slowing down. The York indie legends have just announced Shedcember X, the 10th edition of their iconic festive run, hitting stages across the UK this November and December — and if the last couple of years are anything to go by, it’s going to be something else entirely.
The band are riding one of the most unlikely — and genuinely brilliant — career hot streaks in British music right now. In 2024 alone they dropped two UK Number 1 albums — ‘A Matter Of Time’ and ‘Liquid Gold’ — putting them in rarefied company alongside The Beatles, Elton John and David Bowie as acts who’ve pulled that off within a single calendar year. Not bad for a band from York who’ve been at it for three decades.
To mark the announcement, guitarist Paul Banks has written and directed a heartfelt video message to fans that captures exactly what makes a Shed Seven show feel like coming home. Frontman Rick Witter summed it up perfectly: “We can’t wait to get out there up and down the UK and soak up what is a unique atmosphere at a Shed Seven gig. Expect the big hits along with a few surprises and the thrill of us all singing our hearts out together for a couple of hours. See you down the front.”
Each night is set to be a career-spanning celebration packed with anthems — Going For Gold, Chasing Rainbows, Disco Down, On Standby, Talk Of The Town — you know the drill. Irish indie outfit The Academic, who’ve racked up multiple Number 1 albums back home, will be joining as special guests across all dates.
Tickets are on sale now.
