Brighton’s PROJECTOR crash into Alcopop! Records with new single ‘Collision’

Brighton’s art-rock agitators PROJECTOR have just parked themselves firmly in the Alcopop! Records family—and naturally, they did it with a bang. Literally. Their new single Collision has just dropped, and it’s two-and-a-half minutes of chaotic, dual-vocal glory that sounds like it drove through an art school and crash-landed in a grunge gig.

To celebrate the new label signing, the trio also announced a UK/EU tour this October. Presale are live now. Tickets available at: https://linktr.ee/ProjectorOfficial

Welcome to the Bin Fight

Alcopop! head Jack Clothier is all in: “We’re absolutely made up to be signing Projector. That’s two of the best bands around in a week; I’m not sure how we got so lucky to be honest. Brighton is a heartland we’ve always loved, and the moment you hear Projector’s huge angular riffs and shimmering dissonant melodies… it’s like DITZ meets Scarfo—or The Pixies if you’re not deep in 1997 alt-indie. Producer Ben Hampson called it ‘a fight in a big metal bin’ and honestly, that’s perfect.”

Collision: Mechanophilia Gets Loud

The new track Collision is inspired by J.G. Ballard’s cult classic Crash—yes, the one where people get all hot and bothered over car wrecks. “I tried to write it like a car that wants to… you know,” says guitarist Edward with a smirk.

It starts off with twitchy, staccato art-rock vibes—think Courting or Cheekface—before launching into a dreamy, soaring chorus laced with intertwined vocals from Edward and bassist Lucy.

Produced by Ben Hampson (DITZ, Lambrini Girls) and mastered by Katie Tavini, the track’s video was directed by Sam Morris of Avocado Baby Films and set in a DIY garage dreamworld.

I’m from a long line of South London mechanics but can’t even change a wheel, so it felt right,” Lucy adds. “Plus, it suits Edward’s deviant car lyrics.”

PROJECTOR’s Sonic Mayhem Rolls On

PROJECTOR first turned heads with their 2024 debut ‘Now When We Talk It’s Violence’—a wild ride through post-punk, grunge, industrial noise and melodic pop hooks. It was DIY to the core, produced alongside longtime collaborator Ben Hampson, and packed with weirdness in the best way.

Their March 2025 single The Sham! The Sham! The Sham! was another sonic gut-punch—jagged, dissonant and full of lyrical acid.

Edward says: “It’s a triptych of three arrogant characters, each hating the world and each other. The song’s a clattering mess of atonal genres and unpleasant clanking. It even hates the listener. The lyrics were just for me—packed with Greek mythology, French cinema, and, yeah, some bodily stuff.”
