Out August 29 + Massive tour incoming

Toronto’s genre-breaking punk force ThxSoMch is stepping into a bold new era with the announcement of his highly anticipated debut album, ‘The Sound of You Laughing,’ landing August 29 via Atlantic Records. It’s raw, it’s emotional, it’s chaotic in all the right ways—and it’s available to pre-save now.

This debut isn’t just a collection of songs—it’s a full-body exorcism. Produced by grayskies (d4vd, Wisp) and mixed by Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys), ‘The Sound of You Laughing’ captures the electric push and pull between vulnerability and volatility. ThxSoMch wrote and recorded the album during a seven-month escape to Brazil, ditching distractions, ditching English, ditching time itself—just him, grayskies, and the music.

It put me in the best mental place I’ve been in for a long time,” he says. “No phone, no sense of time—just flow. Creating this was like a cigarette after a long craving. I hope it can be that for someone else too. It’s the sound of acceptance. Of mockery and coping. Choking and surviving.”

The result? A record that blurs the line between alt rock, post-punk, emo, and SoundCloud-era rap. It’s catchy but disorienting, comforting but confrontational. And it goes hard.

New Single: Sound of You Laughing (feat. Flawed Mangoes)

Alongside the album announcement, ThxSoMch dropped a stunner of a single, Sound of You Laughing. Built around a hypnotic guitar riff from Flawed Mangoes and finished off with drums by LMG, the track came together fast—and naturally. Thx freestyled most of it in one take, driven by instinct and emotion.

“I recorded it the next day and couldn’t stop listening to it,” he says. “It’s both comfort and discomfort.”

Wonderland Magazine nailed it, calling it a “sad boi banger” with “snappy, emotive vocals and heady, guitar-led instrumentation.” Basically, it hits.

The official video is equally powerful. Shot backwards and built around the feeling of flipping through old playground photos, it nails the weird ache of nostalgia. Director Tommy Kiljoy said it best: “We wanted to bottle up that liminal feeling—the soft dread of memory. I’m genuinely so in love with how it turned out.”

About ThxSoMch

Since crashing onto the scene with his viral 2022 single SPIT IN MY FACE!, ThxSoMch has been on a non-stop upward spiral. That track alone racked up over 672 million Spotify streams and landed on the Billboard Hot 100, setting the stage for a career that’s been anything but predictable.

But he’s never been one to chase trends. His music is messy and real—genre-bending, emotionally charged, and sharply self-aware. He blends the angst of ‘90s alt rock with the lo-fi grit of 2000s internet rap and the dark pop instincts of a kid who’s seen too much, felt even more, and somehow turned it all into anthems.

Disappearing to Brazil only sharpened his vision. With over a billion career streams and three tracks clocking over 100 million each, ThxSoMch is redefining what punk, pop, and pain can sound like.

Stay tuned. ThxSoMch isn’t done. Not even close.

Check out the album, catch a show, and if nothing else—let the chaos comfort you.
