London-via-Bedford band Dog Race are back with a brand new EP, ‘Return The Day’—out now—and they’ve just dropped a video for its gripping new track, 40 Winks to Wyoming. If you like your post-punk slow-burning and full of existential dread, this one’s for you.

Dog Race have carved out a unique sonic space that’s as dark as it is compelling, with lyrics that lean hard into emotional unease and psychological unrest. It’s the kind of intensity that feels both cathartic and oddly comforting—like someone finally saying the quiet part out loud.

The new EP continues their collaboration with producer Ali Chant (Perfume Genius, Yard Act, PJ Harvey), and the result is a tight, nervy collection of songs that feel incredibly focused and self-assured. 40 Winks to Wyoming stands out as a tense, dreamlike meditation—sleepwalking its way through themes of dislocation and inner unraveling. And the video? Minimal, unsettling, and completely hypnotic.

Dog Race have already caught the attention of tastemakers on both sides of the Atlantic—Anthony Fantano even gave them a nod by slotting one of their tracks into his top picks of 2024. If you’re not already keeping tabs on them, now’s a great time to start.

Give the video for 40 Winks to Wyoming a spin here, and stream the track on Spotify.

Dog Race are one of those bands that get how to channel chaos into something beautiful—don’t sleep on this one.
