Get ready to ride a wave of psychedelic riffs: New Zealand psych duo Earth Tongue unleash their latest single, Silver Eye, a blistering, fuzz-drenched highlight from their upcoming third album, ‘Dungeon Vision’ (out February 13 via In The Red Records, produced by Ty Segall).
The track came together after a whirlwind back-and-forth between California and a frozen Berlin, with the band determined to add a few “faster, louder, and more immediate” tracks to the record. Guitarist Gussie Larkin and drummer Ezra Simons explain:
“We knew we needed to sprinkle in a few more fuzzy bangers… Silver Eye was born. We love the up-tempo feel, the journey of the bridge, and the psychedelic chorus.”
Recorded with Richard Behrens at Berlin’s Big Snuff Studios—a collaborator with Kadavar, Samsara Blues Experience, and Elder—Silver Eye balances raw, urgent energy with hypnotic grooves. Thunderous riffs collide with swirling psych textures, building toward a cathartic ending made for the stage. And the fans agree: during Earth Tongue’s late-2025 U.S. tour, the track quickly became a standout live moment.
“It became one of our favorite parts of the show—high-energy riffs, groovy sections, and a massive ending,” they say. “We want audiences on our upcoming tours to get to know it.”
‘Dungeon Vision’ captures the full spectrum of Earth Tongue’s sonic ambition. Tracked live to tape in Los Angeles over just ten days with Ty Segall, the album pulses with fuzz guitars, bone-battering drums, and hauntingly tuneful vocals. Segall, dubbed the “king of fuzzy guitar tones,” pushed the duo to explore new textures while championing their raw chemistry.
Highlights include the genre-bending a cappella track Ritual, psych-folk journey Body of Water, and synth-laced instrumental Symmetry Dripper, which could soundtrack your next ’80s arcade fever dream.
Since their 2016 debut, Earth Tongue’s hypnotic live shows, immersive visuals, and relentless touring have earned them a cult following worldwide. Their 2024 album ‘ ’ received a Taite Music Prize nomination, and the duo snagged Best Group at the 2025 Aotearoa Music Awards. They’ve shared stages with Queens of the Stone Age, IDLES, Acid King, Brant Bjork, and Kikagaku Moyo, and this summer, they’ll appear at King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s Field Of Vision Festival in Colorado.
New Zealand fans won’t have to wait long to experience the duo live. Their six-date, seven-show tour kicks off in Kerikeri on album release day, then hits Auckland, Hamilton, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington. Tickets are on sale now via earthtongue.co.nz.
