Brooklyn three-piece Ringing — the project of bandleader Colton Walker — have officially dropped their debut full-length, ‘Another Cycle in the Cosmic Wash’, out now via Julia’s War Recordings and Signal//Noise Records. Ten songs deep, it’s a visceral, mindful ride that pushes well past shoegaze conventions into something more honest and more personal.

The record wrestles with the cyclical nature of recovery — the frustrating loop of patterns, setbacks, and slow self-realization. Colton puts it plainly:

“The album reflects on the cyclical nature of recovery. Sometimes it’s easy to feel like you’re destined to repeat the same mistakes forever, but over time you start to recognize the pattern and learn how to navigate it. The important thing is to just keep going.”

What makes ‘Another Cycle’ hit different is how it got made. The whole thing was tracked live in a single session in 2024 — raw, instinctual, capturing the band’s natural command of dynamics and space. But Walker scrapped the original lyrics entirely afterward, realizing he wasn’t actually saying anything. He spent the next year living with these songs and rewriting them into something he could stand behind. That kind of revision takes guts, and you can feel it in every track.

The Singles So Far

The album announcement came via incandescent, a sludgy crawl through the discomfort of self-realization, complete with an official visualizer. The band also took it to Traffic Court Studios in Harrisburg, VA for a live session that’s up on YouTube now — well worth the watch.

Then came want2want2, premiering via FLOOD Magazine with an official music video. Slick drums cut through walls of distortion as metallic tones and raw lyricism collide — a song about falling into numbness and hitting the turning point where everything changes. It landed on Alternative Press‘s weekly playlist and got love from Glide Magazine, Nina Protocol, and others.

Most recently, rose/bud/thorn arrived holding onto hope in a moment of transition — blown-out guitars pushing against lyrical vulnerability until the whole thing collapses into heavy, earned catharsis.

What the Press is Saying

‘another cycle in the cosmic wash’ feels remarkably self-assured. Ringing’s ability to break apart dense walls of sound with moments of fragile melody gives the record a dynamic edge, while Walker’s lyrical revisions add a layer of personal honesty that anchors the otherwise dreamlike atmosphere.”Crucial Rhythm

On their studio debut, Ringing successfully separated themselves from their genre peers and many rock acts across all subgenres, with a valiant, vulnerable LP that is both experimental and accessible.”Glide Magazine

Thrashing and reflective… Opening with blistering guitars, the track soon accommodates Walker’s softly contemplative lyrics before the two sonic poles meet later in the song.” — FLOOD Magazine
