Flesh Produce’s ‘Guitahnival’ was written for a clown wrestling match. It delivered.

Seattle noise-punk weirdos Flesh Produce are back with Guitahnival, the latest advance single off their upcoming full-length ‘Hyper Chasm’, due June 5th on CorpoRAT Records. And look — the backstory alone is worth the price of admission.

The track was written specifically for a Queer wrestling event put on by wrestle.yr.friends, and vocalist Myla Profitt knew exactly what energy was required:

“I figured tacky was the way to go, so I couldn’t get too heady with it. I stuck with one simple message: You’re gonna need something a little stronger if you want to take me down, big boy. Unsurprisingly, it only took me an hour to craft these really deep lyrics.”

That’s a hard pivot from her usual five days of six-hour sessions at the coffee shop, but hey — sometimes the muse arrives in full face paint.

On the day of the show, when it came time for their set, the wrestling was paused. Polite? Sure. But completely wrong for the vibe. So naturally, Flesh Produce did what any reasonable band would do: they opened up a wrestling match in the pit. No confirmed injuries. A win by all accounts.

Multi-instrumentalist Karl Fagerstrom handled all guitars, synths, and what he lovingly calls “extra-tacky stock Roland TD-10 edrums” on the track. He traces its DNA back to some genuinely interesting corners:

“I was still heavily influenced by Thomas Fec (aka Tobacco) at the time… and there’s also some heavy Johnny Truant influence in there — the unheard of British metalcore band that came up with Architects but never got the flowers they deserved, in my opinion. It’s goofy, heavy, and noisy, and people seem to get down to it at shows. It’s definitely a cymbal-destroyer, if nothing else.”

Shoutout to Johnny Truant getting their flowers via a noise-punk single about clown wrestling. The internet is good sometimes.

Guitahnival is out now via CorpoRAT Records. ‘Hyper Chasm’ drops June 5th and is available for pre-order on Bandcamp now.
