South Carolina-based shoegaze experimentalist Color of Light shared the second single Ocean of Dead Feelings, lifted from ‘Daydream Garden’. ‘Daydream Garden’ is his first new album in five years and it will be released on November 13th.
“Ocean of Dead Feelings was inspired after coming home from a trip to the outer edge of North Carolina,” Color of Light bandleader Sean Neuse told New Noise. “The boundless oceans triggered all of these dark emotions, even thoughts of suicide I’ve kept locked away inside myself for a long time. The ocean being the mirror of life, inspired the song coming together for the album.”

‘Daydream Garden’ as a whole navigates the depression Neuse faced after his parents’ passing while attributing its psych rock influence and delay-soaked delivery to Neuse’s love of Slowdive’s ‘Pygmalion’ during recording.
Based in the small city of Spartanburg sixty miles outside the mountains of Asheville, Sean Neuse began Color of Light in 2014 after leaving cult indie act Coma Cinema, releasing his debut album ‘Memory’ the following year to praise from Noisey. Taking influence from early 4AD and Kranky artists while finding name inspiration from the iconic prismatic cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of The Moon,’ Color of Light fittingly lives in the shades between his influences.
