Italian darkwave/post-punk band New Candys has shared their new single and video for Begin Again. The track is the second new single lifted from ‘Vyvyd,’ their fourth studio album, set for release on June 4th via Little Cloud Records and Dischi Sotterranei, along with an exclusive vinyl edition through Fuzz Club (album pre-order). Watch the video clip for Begin Again via YouTube below.

Following the album’s lead single Twin MimeBegin Again is a more subdued, intimate psych-leaning post-punk track about how a broken bond can sometimes continue to be present in our memories, and in those same memories both people can find each other. Directed by Ivan Smudja, the official music video runs with that theme; it tells the story of twin sisters who exchange personalities from time to time. Whenever they secretly encounter one another, one of the two is set free — free from the ordinary life, until they meet again. More information on ‘Vyvyd’

‘Vyvyd’ is a boundary-pushing synthesis of dark, psychedelic post-punk and shoegaze. Recorded at Fox Studio in the bands’ native Venice by Andrea Volpato and mixed and mastered by Grammy award-winning producers Tommaso Colliva (Calibro 35, The Jesus And Mary Chain) and Giovanni Versari, ‘Vyvyd’ combines brilliantly-produced, noisy, brooding sounds with distinct melodies while displaying a dynamic and symbiotic connection between their music and meticulously crafted visual imagery. It ties together its visual and lyrical themes, which are carefully crafted with both hidden and subliminal messages. The artwork goes hand in hand with the music and the lyrics, which culls together religious, pagan and archetypal symbols, which have been distorted through the bands’ own lens – including a New Candys-themed set of Tarot cards!
