Alternative indie band, Perfect Blue, announce their new single, Runnin’ From the Hills, which is lifted from their forthcoming album. The band have only been together since 2018, but already have been prolific, releasing an EP in early 2019, receiving praise from tastemakers like Obscure Sound, Independent Music Reviews, and A1234, and now, preparing for the new album in Spring 2020.  The debut full-length is greatly enhanced by the approach the band take to recording and arranging with each member playing multiple instruments on each track. Listen to Runnin’ From the Hills via SoundCloud below.

The band was started by Blake Sokoloff, the producer and bassist of the band, with a number of friends he had made through playing music around Chicago since he was in high school. Undergoing a number of lineup changes to solidify the best group of people to play these songs over the past few months, the band began playing with their current vocalist, Trish Zulueta, in July 2019. Since then,  the project has really taken off since she came on board. Sokoloff and Zulueta are the chief songwriters and producers for the band but the sound is filled out drastically by keyboardist Joe Drezmiecki, guitarists Austin Fite and Noah Petrillo, and Percussionist Anthony Martins.

Bonding over a  mutual love of both the alternative acts of the 90’s and 2000’s like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Mazzy Star, and Of Montreal; as well as the more modern experimental pop music from artists like SOPHIE, Charli XCX, and Grimes, Sokoloff and Zulueta grew to write more intense music,  drawing from acts like Rammstein and Smashing Pumpkins while still retaining their love of sound exploration and a general disregard for genre.  The album was recorded and mixed by Sokoloff at their studio, Abbey Cat Recordings with the only outside recording coming from additional production and recording done by Zulueta and Drezmiecki on their own.
