Sydney AUS quartet Loose Fit have shared their new single and video for Black Water. It’s a track that cuts a fearful figure, Langdon cataloguing persistent, unknowable anxieties, singing how they’re, “with you in the car park, with you in the diner, with you in the snack aisle, with you in the elevator.”

Black Water also heralds the band’s first music video, which guitarist Max Edgar talk more about. “The dancers in the clip are Cait, an old friend of mine, and her partner Jaymie. When I asked Cait if they’d be up for doing the clip, she was really in to it and said the song would suit a tango routine, so that’s what they did. The first half of the clip is just a freestyle thing they improvised to the song, the second half is a tango routine that they perform when they compete in ballroom comps.

The clip was shot by a friend and colleague of mine, Solomon Thomas. Between the band we had kinda been brewing this idea of filming a dance routine to one of our songs, and when I mentioned it to Solomon one day at work he went mad for it and started rattling off ideas for the rest of the day. In the end he came up with the idea of filming the whole thing in one shot as he kinda followed the dancers through their routine.”

More about Loose Fit?

Loose Fit began when fashion school friends Kaylene Milner and Anna Langdon bonded over their mutual love of experimental music. After toying with lo-fi bedroom recordings, the pair recruited Max Edgar on guitar and Richard Martin on bass and started making some actual noise. With Kaylene behind the kit and Anna on sax and vocal duties, Loose Fit’s unique and focused sound began to take shape. The debut EP is a “moody critique of the absurd”, tackling themes of frustration, disillusion, fear, love, and rage.

Since playing their first show in early 2019, the four-piece have been putting in time on stages around the east coast of Australia and have steadily been gathering fans and friends along the way. On stage and on record Loose Fit is an energetic unit propelled by a heavy rhythm section that isn’t afraid to assault unsuspecting punks with the ultimate taboo – groove.

Loose Fit are: Anna Langdon (vocals) | Kaylene Milner (drums, sax, vocals) | Max Edgar (guitar) | Richard Martin (bass)
