Girl Tones drop fiery new single ‘Blame’

The sister-powered rock duo Girl Tones just lit a match and threw it into the gasoline-soaked world of sibling drama with their latest single, Blame. Equal parts introspective and explosive, the track isn’t just a song—it’s a confessional booth wrapped in fuzzed-out guitars and emotional wreckage.

Kenzie and Laila (yes, real-life sisters) have a knack for tearing through rock’s many layers, and this time, they’re turning the spotlight back on themselves. Originally written from a place of youthful spite, Blame evolved into something deeper—a mature reflection on the murky waters of accountability, pride, and emotional baggage.

“It started as a teen tantrum,” Kenzie admits, “but now that I’m older, I wanted to explore what really goes down when relationships fall apart. Who’s to blame, really?”

And if the song is the spark, the video is the bonfire. Shot at Nashville’s kitsch-fantasy Dive Motel, the visual is pure sisterly mischief—think split bedrooms, prank wars, and a healthy dose of 70s nostalgia. Directed by Casey Pierce, the whole thing feels like That 70s Show got caught in a turf war with Freaky Friday.

And if that wasn’t enough to get you buzzing, Girl Tones just made some serious moves behind the scenes. They’re the first band signed to Parallel Vision, a brand-new label under Big Loud Rock, launched by none other than Brad Shultz (Cage The Elephant), alongside industry heavyweights Daniel Oakley and Darren Potuck. Translation: this duo isn’t just throwing punches—they’ve got the full fight camp behind them.

So, Who Are Girl Tones?

Just two classically trained sisters—Kenzie (cello-turned-guitar) and Laila (piano-turned-drums)—on a mission to make your ears ring and your soul scream. Their early singles like Fade Away, Again, and I Know You Know grabbed attention for their raw, chaotic energy and unapologetic fuzz. Produced by Brad Shultz, their sound has drawn comparisons to Karen O, The White Stripes, and just about every garage rock deity you can think of.

With shoutouts from PAPER, NME, and DORK, and an endorsement from Nashville.com calling them “a force to be reckoned with,” Girl Tones are fast becoming the breakout act you swear you discovered first.

New to the chaos? Start with Blame. Stay for the riot.
