French noise-rock trio This Will Destroy Your Ears are back to blow your speakers and melt your brains with ‘FUNLAND’, their third album, landing October 10, 2025. The announcement comes paired with a thunderous new single, Gorgeous Eve Holds A Banger Hammer, out now—complete with a surreal, scrapbook-style video that’s equal parts oddball and oddly moving.
Recorded in January at their DIY recording space Recording United (a gritty dream factory tucked in Hossegor), ‘FUNLAND’ is a love letter to the weird and wonderful pockets of the UK the band has stumbled into while touring—chief among them: Blackpool.
“It’s about this bizarre, dreamlike night we had there,” the band explains. “There was a pirate doing karaoke, a guy in an angel costume jumping off the pier, and a mermaid spilling gin on everyone. It was wild.” That frenzied energy pulses through Gorgeous Eve Holds A Banger Hammer—a fuzz-drenched, chaotic celebration of the night out you maybe shouldn’t remember, but totally do.
The track was produced and recorded by Ben Hampson (DITZ, Lambrini Girls) in France, mixed in Brighton, and mastered by Katie Tavini in the UK. It’s loud, unhinged, and exactly what you’d expect from a band who named themselves This Will Destroy Your Ears.
The video—directed by visual artist Thibault Tourmente—is as unconventional as the band itself. It’s a single shot of a handmade art book filled with eerie, Lynchian collages and cryptic images. “It’s simple on the surface,” says vocalist Pierre-Yo, “but it’s really about how layered and strange a place can be, especially when it’s seen through a haze of tour exhaustion and late-night surrealism.”
