Brooklyn’s beloved weirdos They Might Be Giants are back and they’re not playing around — well, actually, they absolutely are, and that’s the whole point. The Johns have just unleashed their new single and visualizer Outside Brain, the latest taste of their incoming LP ‘The World Is to Dig’, dropping April 14. And if that’s not enough, they’re hitting the road next month for THE BIGGER SHOW TOUR with multi-night stands in Brooklyn, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, and Woodstock. Tickets are on sale now.
About ‘Outside Brain’
Outside Brain is a thunderous, propulsive ride — John Flansburgh’s smooth vocals riding a wave of Dan Miller’s rip curl guitar and Danny Weinkauf’s fluid bass lines as the lyrics spiral into a full-on lyrical panic attack. It’s urgent, a little unhinged, and completely irresistible. Classic TMBG energy, cranked up.
Flansburgh described it this way: the track captures the nightmare feeling of mania and panic — being chased, running from something, that twisted emotional claustrophobia. He also cited the Bobby Fuller Four as an influence, the underappreciated ’60s garage band best known for I Fought the Law, saying the band managed to capture a piece of that very rare vibe. Drummer Marty Beller deserves a shoutout here too — his relentless beat is doing a lot of heavy lifting on the tension front.

THE BIGGER SHOW TOUR — Kicking Off April 17
Fresh off two years of sold-out touring, TMBG is going bigger — literally. THE BIGGER SHOW TOUR features the band backed by a stellar eight-piece ensemble with a three-piece horn section, performing in a no-opener “An Evening With” format. Each night of a multi-night stand is unique, with the first set spotlighting a different album from their deep catalog, and the second set diving into fan favorites and deep cuts alike. Sprawling, unpredictable, and genuinely joyful — this is the kind of live experience you’ll be talking about for years. Multi-night passes and preferred hotel rates are available in select markets.
As the critics put it — “Catch them if you can — their live shows always deliver.” — USA Today. We’d have to agree.
