South London’s Ain’t are back with Grazer — and a six-track EP that doubles as the best introduction to one of the most exciting bands doing it right now.
It’s been a big ride for Ain’t. NME 100 nods, showcase slots at The Great Escape and Dork, tours alongside THUS LOVE, The Hold Steady, and Sunflower Bean, a sold-out headline London date — and through all of it, a steady drip of singles that kept delivering on the hype. Now the South London five-piece are back with Grazer, their first new music of 2026, and it hits exactly like you’d want it to.
Sub-three minutes, no filler. Warm, slurring guitar lines. Hooky vocal harmonies. Subtly intricate drumming and fluid bass holding it all together. Recorded with Ali Chant — the guy behind records for Dry Cleaning, Yard Act, and Sorry — Grazer carries that same knowing nod to 90s slacker indie that’s made Ain’t such a word-of-mouth favourite, with hints of shoegaze, Midwest rock, and lo-fi dream pop bleeding through the cracks.
Vocalist Hanna Baker Darch had something to say about what sparked the track:
“I’ve always thought it cowardly when people assume popular culture is unprofound; the mere fact we are animals making art is inherently mystical. Grazer kind of vents this opinion, using Hellraiser as an example. It’s been downplayed as another pulpy, ridiculous slasher franchise — and it is, but it’s also got these insane parallels to concepts in Deleuze and Guattari’s philosophy: Frank Cotton is literally a body without organs, and he is also a desiring machine. It feels increasingly necessary to stress the importance of creativity — not just high-brow works — when artistic expression is increasingly under threat from AI.“
Hellraiser, Deleuze, slacker guitar pop. That’s Ain’t in a nutshell, really.
The EP: ‘How They Faked The Moon Landing’
Grazer slots in as track five on the upcoming EP ‘How They Faked The Moon Landing’ — a six-track collection that gathers the band’s recent singles into one proper introductory statement. It lands on 12″ vinyl on 22nd May via Fear Of Missing Out Records, and it’s dropping as one of Dinked’s coveted Early Doors First Editions. If you know, you know — move fast on this one.
