Magic Wands‘ ‘Moonshadow’ gets the Delerium treatment and it’s gloriously eerie

If you’ve been sleeping on Magic Wands, consider this your wake-up call — delivered via moonlight, underground tunnels and a healthy dose of gothic atmosphere.

The LA-based dream-pop duo have just dropped a Delerium remix of their 2025 track Moonshadow, and it’s exactly the kind of collaboration that makes you stop whatever you’re doing and just listen. The original appeared on their October album ‘Cascades’ — a record that critics described as “a slow, smoky invocation” and awarded 4.5/5 — but Canadian ambient electronic duo Delerium have now taken the track somewhere altogether more otherworldly.

Delerium have taken it to another dimension,” say Magic Wands. “Their remix has a haunting quality that fits perfectly.

Hard to argue with that. Delerium’s Rhys Fulber describes the process as finding “a perfect meeting place between the vibes of older Delerium and the stargazing guitar sounds of Magic Wands” — and if that sentence doesn’t make you hit play immediately, we don’t know what will.

As for the song itself? Magic Wands say it was inspired by Dracula, the moon and the feeling of riding an underground train late at night. Which honestly explains everything about why it sounds the way it does.

The remix is lifted from a Magic Wands remix EP due out in June, so this is just the appetiser. The duo have already been busy in 2026 — Sacred Mirrors, a collaboration with Psychedelic Furs guitarist John Ashton, arrived in January, followed by Wishing Well in February. Not a bad run.

Originally formed in Nashville by vocalists and guitarists Dexy and Chris Valentine, Magic Wands have built their sound around heavily textured guitars, synth drones and ethereal vocals — a world where shoegaze, dream-pop, post-punk and goth all blur together into something that feels, as one critic put it, “both familiar and foreign.” Cascades leans into that fully, threading gothic romance and centuries-old poetry through its DNA while bridging the gap between their 2012 debut Aloha Moon and where they are now.

Stream Moonshadow (Delerium Remix) below, and keep an eye on that June EP.
