New album ‘This is normal now’ drops Nov 28 via Alcopop! Records / Ketchup Tracks

Berlin trio PABST are back and they’re not just making noise—they’re redefining it. After nearly three years off the release radar, the band has returned with a wild new single, I felt all there is to feel, featuring none other than Shane Parsons of Aussie party-punk legends DZ Deathrays. It’s raw, it’s weird, it’s got disco drums under fuzz-blasted guitars—and it kicks off a new era the band’s dubbing “Hyper-Rock.”

This first taste of their upcoming fourth studio album, ‘This is normal now’ (out November 28 via Alcopop! Records and Ketchup Tracks), is a swirl of distortion, emotional overload, and hyper-digital angst. It’s cathartic chaos, glued together by a chorus that somehow feels both euphoric and slightly unhinged—just how we like it.

It’s been almost three years since we released our last track,” says frontman Erik Heise. “Since then, the world has flipped on its head at least four times—and made us feel all there is to feel. One thing we’ve learned: with 14 hours of screen time a day, you don’t feel much of anything. Still, we hope this new PABST song makes you feel something.”

Mission accomplished.

What’s This “Hyper-Rock” Thing?

If you’re wondering what “Hyper-Rock” sounds like, think crunchy guitars, whiplash tempo shifts, and a cheeky middle finger to genre rules. It’s rock music fed through a digital blender, scattered with confetti and blasted onto a strobe-lit dance floor. With ‘This is normal now,’ PABST are tearing up the tired rulebook and handing us something way more fun.

The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Magnus Wichmann at lala Studios in Leipzig, and it’s unmistakably PABST: bold, unfiltered, and deeply weird in all the best ways. They’ve brought friends along for the ride, too—guest appearances from Blush Always and Snake Eyes spice up the mix.

From DIY Roots to Global Stages

Since forming, PABST have built a reputation for sweaty live shows and unapologetically loud records. After self-releasing two killer albums—‘Deuce Ex Machina’ (2020) and ‘Crushed by the Weight of the World’ (2022)—they joined the Alcopop! family in 2023 with the chaotic live album ‘1, 2, 3, Go!’.

Now they’ve leveled up: Top 20-charting releases in Germany, praise from BBC Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter, and tours with heavyweights like Billy Talent and Bob Mould. They’ve hit major festival stages across Europe—The Great Escape, Rock am Ring, Sziget, and Madcool—and it’s clear they’re not slowing down anytime soon.
