If there’s a band out there right now that makes you genuinely believe the golden age of pop songwriting never ended, it’s The Lemon Twigs. And they’re back with a big announcement — their sixth studio album, ‘Look For Your Mind!,’ drops May 8th via Captured Tracks, and the lead single I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You is already doing what these brothers do best: making you feel like you’ve heard the greatest song of your life for the very first time.

Watch the video right here and try not to get hooked. We dare you.

Hold Onto Your Mind — Literally

Don’t let the breezy, sun-drenched pop exterior fool you. Underneath all those ringing guitars and gorgeous harmonies, Look For Your Mind! is carrying something a little heavier. Brian D’Addario puts it plainly: “I do think that now is a time of insanity. You really have to hold onto your own mind if you don’t wanna lose it.” Heavy words wrapped in the prettiest of melodies — classic Lemon Twigs energy.

The lead single is a perfect introduction to where the band are headed. It starts familiar, warm, almost comforting — and then the bridge arrives at exactly the wrong/right moment, the chorus gets clipped in half, and Brian’s harmonies with Eva Chambers (of Tchotchke) spiral into something genuinely euphoric. It shouldn’t work. It completely works. As Brian laughs, “Every time we try to write something completely straightforward, we can’t help adding an element which comes out of left field. We always want to write a song we’ve never heard before.”

That restless creativity? That’s the whole deal with these guys.

A New Era, A New Band Energy

Something’s shifted with this record, and it feels significant. For the first time, The Lemon Twigs have brought their live bandmates into the studio — drummer Reza Matin, bassist Danny Ayala, and Eva Chambers all feature on the album. Brian and Michael D’Addario have always been the kind of musicians who handle everything themselves, so opening up the studio feels like a real moment of evolution. More collaborators, more freedom, and if the single is anything to go by, more magic.

This is the logical next step from where 2024’s A Dream Is All We Know left them — a record that had the music press absolutely losing their minds with joy. Far Out called it “the best songs Brian Wilson never wrote.” The Guardian declared the band were “operating at the very peak of their songwriting power.” With Look For Your Mind!, the sixth album in their catalogue, it sounds like the peak just got higher.
