MutMuz Gallery Is throwing the punk history party of the year
Mark your calendars, Chinatown is about to get loud — at least intellectually. MutMuz Gallery is hosting a special evening on Friday, April 3 from 6–10pm celebrating the release of ‘We’re Having Much More Fun: Punk Archives for the Present from CBGB to Gilman and Beyond’, a new book by scholars Judith A. Peraino and Tom McEnaney. And yes, members of The Screamers will be there. In the flesh.
The night goes down at 971 Chung King Rd., Los Angeles, CA 90012 and features a panel discussion with the authors alongside Screamers members and artist Fayette Hauser — people who didn’t just study punk history, they made it. Expect raw, firsthand stories about punk’s formative years and a conversation about why that era still matters so much right now. There’s also a book signing on deck, so come ready.
About the Book
‘We’re Having Much More Fun’ traces punk’s arc from the grimy glory days of CBGB all the way through the DIY ethics of Gilman Street and beyond — digging into the archives to explore what punk meant then and what it means to preserve and reinterpret that culture today. It’s the kind of book that makes you want to pull out your old records and start a band all over again.
