One of the most important Toronto independent rock bands of the nineties will be embarking on a reunion tour with select dates in Canada. This fall, Change Of Heart will take to the road celebrating the 25th anniversary of their seminal 1992 album Smile which was re-released on vinyl this July with the first pressing selling out quickly.
A four piece version of the band, consisting of Ian Blurton (guitar/vox), Glenn Milchem (drums) Rob Taylor (bass) and Bernard Maiezza (keyboards) have also re-recorded an unreleased song from the Smile session. The track was produced and engineered by the band, and will be available on September 14. They have also added two shows in one night to end the tour. On October 20, they will be celebrating the end of the run (and beginning of their re-hibernation) in Toronto at The Rivoli with a show at 7:00PM EST and 10:00PM EST.
Originally released twenty-five years ago this summer by Cargo Records, Smile is a sprawling, twenty-one song album which was recorded in early January, 1992 at Toronto’s Reaction Studios. Cut over 4 days live off the floor with no overdubs, Smile was originally envisioned to be released as a double record, much like many of the classic records that influenced its creation, including the Minutemen’s Double Nickels on the Dime and Husker Du’s Zen Arcade, but due to budgets constraints at Cargo it was only ever released on compact disc and cassette. It was re-assembled and remastered from the original master tapes by album producer Michael-Philip Wojewoda.
