Sauna is a brand new Toronto based band that features Zach Bines (Weaves), Braeden Craig (Greys), and Michael le Riche (Fake Palms). They’ve released their first single, Over, and the trio have also announced their signing to Idée Fixe Records. With synths as a big focus of the music, which le Riche both plays and builds, this project marks a departure from the electric guitar-driven sound of Fake Palms. Bines (bass) and Craig (drums), provide a tough and tight complement to this new approach. Minimalist one minute and maximalist the next, the music is rich with suspense and satisfying subversions of expectation.
Sauna’s Over was produced in spring 2018 with the help of Holy Fuck’s Brian Borcherdt. With its syncopated rhythmic splatter and a synthetic kosmische disko chorus, the song begs to be heard again and again. take a listen to the track via Spotify below.
