The Kitchenettes are officially stepping into their vinyl era — and it feels just right.

The San Francisco Bay Area trio have announced their first-ever vinyl release, a sweet and scrappy 7” led by the effortlessly charming new single Sunday Best. The record lands March 27, 2026, co-released by indie pop powerhouses Slumberland RecordsGalaxy Train, and Meritorio Records — a perfect home for a band this lovingly understated.

If you’ve caught The Kitchenettes live over the past few years, you already know the magic: fragile, homespun pop songs that sneak up on you and linger long after the last note fades. Following their 2024 demo tape, this three-song 7” feels like a natural next step — warm, intimate, and timeless without ever feeling nostalgic for nostalgia’s sake.

Musically, the record nods to the classic DIY pop lineage of Marine Girls and Dolly Mixture, but reimagined for 2026 with a distinctly Bay Area glow. Across the tracks, the band shifts mood and texture with ease, all while keeping that cozy, melodic throughline intact.

Formed in a garage by Morgan (of The Umbrellas and Telephone Numbers), Emily, and Sequoia (from The Snogs), The Kitchenettes thrive on collaboration and intuition. Their patchwork songwriting and blended vocal styles channel the spirit of ’80s and ’90s indie pop and bygone girl groups — melody-first, feeling-forward, and deeply human. These are the kind of songs that quietly move in and refuse to leave your head.
