Okay horror heads, listen up — because there’s a new vampire flick dropping on April 7th and it’s giving Buffy the Vampire Slayer energy with a gloriously trashy, cult-film twist.
‘Babysitters vs Vamps,’ released via Cleopatra Entertainment, hits Digital Video this spring, and honestly? It sounds like the perfect Friday night watch-with-snacks situation.
The setup is beautifully simple: Lana asks her best friend Michelle to join her for a chill weekend of babysitting. You know the vibe — easy money, maybe some Netflix, nothing crazy. Except… things get very crazy, very fast. Before they know it, these two are knee-deep in a sinister blood-thirsty vampire cult plot that nobody asked for but we are absolutely here for.
The brain behind the chaos is writer/director Brian Dorton, a filmmaker who’s carved out a devoted cult following with oddball gems like ‘The Trashology Trilogy’ and ‘Crazy Fat Ethel’. Critics have thrown around comparisons to John Waters, Paul Bartel, and David Lynch — which honestly tells you everything you need to know. The man doesn’t make safe movies. He makes memorable ones. With nearly 10 films streaming across platforms, Dorton is quietly building a body of work that genre fans are going to be talking about for years.
The practical effects come courtesy of Marcus Koch, who’s worked on over 100 films. So yeah, expect the blood to look good.
Whether you’re a die-hard horror devotee or just someone who likes their scares served with a side of dark humour, ‘Babysitters vs Vamps’ looks like it’s got the style and the substance to back up the silly premise.
